PHATA to build over one million NPHP houses in Punjab.

Lahore: The Punjab Housing & Town Planning Agency (PHATA) has formulated a plan to build over one million houses in different cities of the province under the government’s Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), a news source reported. To this effect, the authority will construct 1.37 million houses of three and five marlas during the next three years.

Punjab mulls interest-free loans for NPHP

Under the said initiative, PHATA will help the provincial executive build 170,000 houses, while the remaining 1.2 million houses would be constructed under a public-private partnership model.

In this regard, the officials concerned on Wednesday briefed Punjab Chief Secretary (CS) Suleman Khan during a meeting held to review the pace of work on NPHP in the province.

The meeting discussed the process of land acquisition in Kala Shah Kaku and Gujranwala. The officials revealed that they had acquired 304 acres of land in the Gujranwala region for NPHP. The meeting also proposed increasing the capacity of PHATA since it was the main executing agency for the project.

Punjab govt initiates pre-qualification procedure for NPHP contractors

In response, the CS stated that the Punjab government was prioritizing the construction of houses for low-income people in the province. Additionally, he gave orders to expedite the development work of the NPHP project.
