DHA Karachi to receive increased water supply Advisor to CM.

Karachi: Advisor to the Chief Minister (CM) on Law Murtaza Wahab has intimated the government’s resolve to increase the water supply levels provisioned to Defence Housing Authority DHA Karachi, a news source reported. He further stated that DHA Karachi’s water supply levels would be raised by 1.5 MGD to 2 MGD following the operationalization of the new pumps installed for the purpose.

DHA Karachi opens its first regional office in Rawalpindi

To this effect, an eight-member delegation of the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC)’s elected body met with the CM’s advisor as well as the Managing Director (MD) of the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB). CBC Vice President (VP) Aziz Suharwardy led the CBC delegation, which highlighted the shortage of water supply even witnessed during winter months.

MD KWSB revealed that Karachi currently required a water supply of 1,300 MGD. He added that at present, they could only supply 550 MGD, including the water supply from the Hub Dam.

The MD also informed the meeting that the new pumps would become operational within three to four weeks, which would increase the water supply. Wahab and the KWSB MD also reiterated their commitment to ensuring increased water supply to DHA Karachi.

The officials concerned also scheduled a follow-up meeting to resolve any further issues in this regard. The CBC representatives extended their appreciation to Wahab for committing to increase water supply to the CBC area.
