PM Imran says lockdown to be lifted in phases from Saturday(May 9).
Today while addressing the nation, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that the lockdown will be lifted in phases starting from Saturday. “because our people are suffering” he added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the success of the next phases totally depends on how people follow the SOP’s issued by the government. For this very reason, he has also urged the nation to take responsibility and strictly follow the standard operating procedures while leaving the house or going to the industries that are allowed to be reopened.
In the end, he concluded that if people fail to follow the SOP, and if the situation gets out of control, the government will be forced to apply the lockdown again.
Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said six major decisions have been taken by the government:
- More sectors related to construction will be opened
- Selected OPDs will be opened to treat specific diseases and illnesses
- Markets will open after sehri but close at 5 pm
- Markets will remain closed for two days per week
- Small markets will also be allowed to open
- Schools to remain shut until July 15
