Sindh, Railways to fix issues delaying revival of KCR project

During a meeting held at the railway ministry, it was decided that containers from Karachi Port to Pipri will be transported through a freight shuttle train on the new track. This project will be executed on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, in collaboration with the private sector.

As per the communicated details, containers that arrive at Pipri yard from Karachi Port (after being cleared by customs) will transport goods across the country. The ministry also announced its decision to hire a consultant to carry out the feasibility study for the corridor and tenders in this regard will be floated in a few days.

This project is aimed to reduce traffic congestion in Karachi, open new business opportunities for traders, and ultimately generate revenue for the government.
