UNDP Punjab human rights dept to create a data collection mechanism.

Lahore: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced its decision to assist the Punjab Human Rights Department in establishing a data collection mechanism, according to a news report. To this effect, a team of representatives from the UN body met the provincial minister for human rights on Thursday.

UNDP to fund green climate projects in Pakistan

The team pledged to provide technical and other kinds of support to evolve a human data collection mechanism in the province. Emma Bell led this team and stated that the UNDP would offer a capacity-building training program for the provincial departments involved, including the Punjab Treaty Implementation Cell. This program will train these departments regarding basic human rights obligations, as well as implement a pilot program for capacity-building for staff at the district level.

It will also help the departments establish and maintain working relationships with provincial and national stakeholders. Secretary Human Rights and Minority Affairs Dr. Irshad Aslam expressed his hopes that the UNDP would create more awareness about human rights in Pakistan through this collaboration, leading to a more inclusive and peaceful country.
