RDA approves 10 economic zones along Ring Road.

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Thursday approved 10 economic zones along the Ring Road where development work will be started as soon as possible.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza.

The members of Islamabad and Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce and Industries, RDA officials, and others were also present in the meeting.

RDA Chairman said that the business community is the backbone of the country’s economy and concrete steps are being taken to provide facilities to it as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The development work is being done on a priority basis by the government to address the issues faced by the business community during the project’s execution.

A senior official of the RDA told to the news person that the grain market and fruit and vegetable market will be established in Rawat near Radio Pakistan, a theme park will be constructed at Murat and Aerotropolis in the area between Murat and Haqla while a dry port will be established in the area of Haqla.

He said that the land proposed for the economics zone would be locked and in this regard, RDA and Punjab Information Technology Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding to keep an eye so no change will be made in the area.

However, he said that mostly barren land will be used for the economic zones, and in this regard, the survey had been completed. He said most farms in the area are one crop farms and the project will not be disturbed the agricultural land.
