According to the chairperson of ABAD, Fayyaz Ilyas, the approvals have been submitted and registered by the Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority. ABAD claims that documentation of at least 300 projects has been completed.

The chairperson highlighted many reasons behind the delay in the approval process, first was the slow pace of the single-window facility launched last year by the SBCA. As the e-portal of all land-owning agencies has not been activated yet, therefore, the facility hasn`t been functioning properly.

The approval process should be completed in 45 days but it mostly takes 90 days for final approval. Also, usually, the land-owning agencies take too long to verify the land status. ABAD has been working with Naya Pakistan Scheme with the purpose of turning PM Imran Khan`s vision of providing low-cost housing to people into a reality.

After the construction industry was given a stimulus package by the federal government, the builders agreed to work with the government. Also, there will be tax waivers and no investigation will be done in the construction industry investment to mitigate the effects of coronavirus on the economy.

The package will get approved by the end of 2020. The chairperson of ABAD said that the deadline should be extended to one more year.
