GB to see the plantation of one million trees in 2020.

Gilgit: The department concerned will plant one million trees in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) during the ongoing year under the federal government’s ‘10-Billion Tree Tsunami’ project, the news reported. GB’S Minister for Forest & Wildlife Imran Wakeel expressed his views on the matter during a media briefing on Wednesday.

He extended his appreciation to the GB government for its efforts for making the region clean and green. He added that in order to plant one million trees across GB, they had already completed consultations with the stakeholders.

Wakeel highlighted that it was the first time in the history of the region that the government was planting such a large number of trees. He added that once planted, the authorities concerned would have to coordinate and work with the local community to ensure their safety.

Green Pakistan Programme planned for GB, AJK

PM Imran Khan had launched the 10-Billion Tree Tsunami project in September 2018 to carry out a countrywide plantation campaign. To this effect, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP), in July 2019, provided its approval to the initiative’s implementation.
