The aim of conducting the analysis is to determine the environmental situation and types of natural resources available in the area. The analysis will also determine how to make the situation better and introduce the island as a tourist spot for national and international visitors.

The decision came through during a meeting chaired by Climate Change & Coastal Development Department Secretary Khan Muhammad Mahar on Thursday.

SEPA resolves over 200 environmental violation complaints

For conducting the analysis of Khiprianwala Island, the officials concerned will draft the details of the required demands. In the light of these demands, SEPA will consult with the relevant departments for approvals for a feasible analysis.

On the other hand, the meeting also decided to consider the environmental condition of the fishing localities near the island. SEPA will also consider the measures required to improve this condition during the analysis of the island.

The officials concerned informed the meeting that there were reports of a variety of unique wild, marine, and land-dwelling life existing on the island. These included a 5-feet long turtle and a species of fish that can survive both on land and in water.

The officials added that it was critical to take steps for the conservation of these species to maintain the biodiversity of the island. In this regard, the relevant SEPA officials will prepare a comprehensive report in collaboration with private environment experts – detailing the targets, reasons, and scope of the analysis. They will submit the report with 15 days.
