The Minister of Railways and a team of the ministry’s senior officers developed this business plan. A panel of international experts to be engaged by the ministry through International Development Partners will also review it further.

The most important component of the plan is to improve the safety and punctuality of the trains, for which a separate office of the chief operating superintendent has been established. Similarly, a safety conference will be organized on a monthly basis.

Another major feature is the digitization and implementation of information technology to promote automation. Through this system, the management will be able to computerize all the operations and financial management of the railways.
