Google collaborates with health ministry to raise local COVID-19 awareness.

Islamabad: The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination recently agreed to collaborate with Google to raise awareness regarding COVID-19 prevention within the country, a news source reported. As part of the initiative, the global technology giant has provided free ad-space for public education on its existing channels — including the main display page, Search, and YouTube.

Pakistan to dispatch chloroquine tablets to countries to assist with COVID-19 treatment

Using this assistance, the health ministry will provide critical information to Pakistanis about preventing and coping with COVID-19. Google has provided free ad-space worth USD 5 million as part of its Ad Grants Programme — expected to run from April till the end of 2020.

Google plans to support Pakistan both in the short and long terms pertaining to the country’s response to the pandemic. These include three priorities; namely the promotion of accurate and reliable information, contributing to the business community and economic recovery, and supporting education and learning.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza has extended his appreciation to Google on this collaboration. He added that this assistance would be critical in helping the incumbent government raise awareness about COVID-19 — with the move aimed at educating citizens on the protective methods to use to fight the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
