WB, ADB delegations review projects in Punjab.

Lahore: Several delegations of the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently held meetings with Planning and Development Board (P&D) Chairman Hamed Yakoob Sheikh; wherein they reviewed the progress of their funded developmental projects, a news source reported.

World Bank approves loans for power projects

The officials concerned discussed with the chairman the projects which required improvements in service delivery, as well as took up the matter of human development indicators in the province.

They also appreciated the progress of development in Punjab and showed satisfaction over the implementation of stringent evaluation and monitoring systems to ensure transparency and accountability in the projects.

RMC forwards development schemes to World Bank for funding

At present, the provincial government is working on five major projects: access to clean energy investment project, Punjab Trimmua, and Punjnad Barrages Project, Enhancing Public-Private Partnership in Punjab, Punjab Intermediate Investment Project, and Jalalpur Irrigation Project.

PMRC receives USD 58 million from World Bank

The pipeline projects of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Punjab include Punjab Readiness for PCIIPP, Rehabilitation of Islam Barrage, Punjab Agriculture Markets Development Projects, Punjab Provincial Roads Multi-Tranche Financing facility MFF, Improving Workforce Readiness in Punjab, and Greater Thal Canal Phase III.

 World Bank signs financing agreement for Sindh energy project

The World Bank’s Human Capital Investment Project worth $200 million would be launched in partnership with the Punjab government – with an emphasis on investment in crucial human development areas. Other active projects of WB are focused on jobs, skills, competitiveness, tourism, agriculture, and climate change.
