Online system to receive private donations for Ehsaas Programme under development.
Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar recently announced the federal government’s plan to launch an ‘institutional arrangement’ that will enable the corporate and private sectors to connect with the Ehsaas initiative, according to news sources.

She made this announcement while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 12th Annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Summit-2020, which was organized by the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH).
According to Dr. Sania, a web portal is being developed to enable people to see where their donations are being spent. This system will enable the government to utilize the donations made by private entities with the utmost honesty and integrity. She added that policies were being formulated to incentivize philanthropic donations for corporate bodies on an institutionalized basis.

Additionally, Research Fellow at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute Dr. Shafqat Muneer observed in his speech that, at present, only petroleum sector firms were obligated to spend one percent of their earnings on CSR activities and that no other industry was subject to the same regulations.
