LDA specifies processing time for building plan approvals.

Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA)’s governing body, in a bid to facilitate people and reduce waiting times, recently announced its decision to set a processing period of 21-days for the approval of residential building plans and 45-days for the approval of commercial building plans — according to news sources.

The citizens will now be allowed to initiate construction if the building plan approvals are delayed beyond the allotted time period. Previously, citizens were obligated to wait for months to get their building plans approved, which caused avoidable delays in developments.

Once the allotted time for both commercial and residential projects has expired, the Town Planning Wing of the LDA will be held accountable. Moreover, the construction work on structures will only be halted by the authority in case of violations of the submitted building plan.

The governing body meeting was held under the chairmanship of LDA Vice Chairman S M Imran, with all officials concerned in attendance. The meeting also decided to outsource building inspection jobs to town planners and architects registered with the LDA in a bid to facilitate people.

According to the information available, the highest number of complaints received by the LDA are filed against building inspections and Town Planning staff.
