SBCA introduces new building plan approvals system

A three-judge SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, criticized the growth of illegal constructions in Karachi and observed that the SBCA had shirked its duties in this regard. The apex court called for the removal of all the incompetent and corrupt officials working for the authority and stated that no exploitation of power would be allowed in the future. The SC made this decision after it was informed that SBCA officials had been allowing multi-story buildings on small plots.

The directives were given during the hearing of a case pertaining to an illegal building in the Sindhi Muslim Society near Sharea Faisal. The SC bench, in the previous hearing, had ordered for the demolition of the structure; as it was revealed that it was built on land intended for a drainage system.
