Development work on PKR 28bn-Malir Expressway project in December.
Karachi: The development work for the Malir Expressway is expected to start in December, a news source quoted Sindh Local Government (LG), Secretary Syed Najam Shah, as saying on October 13. The PKR 28 billion-project has been deemed ‘crucial’ in making the northern parts of Karachi more accessible.
Sources claim that the provincial government has finalized a local contractor for the project, which is to be developed under the private-public partnership (PPP) arrangement. With the construction of the expressway, several housing schemes including the DHA City would become more accessible.
With the project’s completion expected in three years, the arrangements finalized with the contractor also includes the condition that the toll tax would be kept with the contracting firm for a specific period of time for their construction services.
