KP to link four hydel power stations with the national grid.

Peshawar: Advisor to the Chief Minister (CM) on Energy and Power Himayatullah Khan on Thursday said that four hydel power stations of 74 megawatts each would be connected to the national grid this year, a news source reported. He further revealed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government would earn PKR 1.9 billion on an annual basis through the initiative.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting of the Board of Directors of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO). PESCO Board Chairman Mohammad Zulfikar Khan, PESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammad Amjad Khan, Director Board, Secretary Energy, and Power, and other senior officials attended the meeting.

Hydroelectric-power generation crosses 7,500 MW

The four hydel power stations included in the national transmission are 2.6-megawatt Machal Project Mardan, 18-megawatt Pehur, 17-megawatt Raniulia, and 36.6-megawatt Darwal Khwar.

Four new grid stations become functional

The PEPSCO Board also provided its approval to the provision of cheap electricity from 18-megawatt Pehur Hydel Power on wheeling model to various industries; including textile, chipboard, and cement industries. To this effect, it was decided that a formal agreement of the deal will be signed at CM’s house next week.
